Sometimes truth requires treachery...
Impressed into the Roman army, vampire Vasilios of Sparta learned to lie, fight, and kill in order to survive. He also learned loyalty and valor. These lessons serve him well for eighteen centuries until he's banished from his clan and betrayed by the leader he called friend.
An immortal without a cause.
A chance encounter brings FBI Agent Anne Mathews into his life. The obstinate redhead is on a mission to save her sister. Without Vasilios' help, Anne will never find her, let alone survive. But when an old enemy resurfaces, Vasilios leads Anne into battle to settle a score of his own.
Hell-bent on winning at any cost, Anne is no damsel in distress. It's a game of good vs. evil. And as Vasillios' passion for her grows, he'll be forced to choose between honor and the only woman to ever claim his heart.
Dark Secrets by Marie Kenward is the third novel in her macCumail Bloodlines Series and I loved it. After reading the previous two novels in the series I already became a huge fan of Miss Kenward. With this third novel she made it on my favorite authors list. It’s another book that I wasn’t able to put down for long; I had to read it within a short period to see how it all ended.
The main characters, Vasilios and Anne are a perfect match. He has been banished from his clan by his leader and best friend for four years and he has no intention to go back. But when he discovers a conspiracy against his best friend Mikhail and his human fiancée Emily, he knows he has to warn them. Anne is a young determined FBI agent. She has an agenda of her own when she meets Vasilios, because she has to save her sister from this evil vampire. If that means she has to use Vasilios in every way, then so be it.
What I love about this author is the way she lures readers into this amazing world. This novel had all the right tools to make it successful; great characters, fabulous storyline, true friendship and loyalty between the vampire “brothers”.
The relationship between Vasilios and Anne has a rough start, Anne fights him with everything she got and I have to say I cannot blame her. The first vampire she meets attacks her, but slowly she loses her heart to powerful Vasillios.
Marie Kenward has done it again and has written another amazing novel in this great series. I already said it before; this is definitely one of my favorite series of this year. I cannot wait to see who’s going to be next, because this series cannot be done.
