Jessica Andersen - Twin Targets

Title : Twin Targets
Release date : May 13, 2008
Publisher : Harlequin
Genre : Contemporary romance / Suspense

FBI agent John Sharpe was closing in on a criminal he'd made his life's mission to put away for life. So rescuing Sydney Westlake from the churning ocean was a distraction he couldn't afford. But then he learned the beautiful scientist had escaped his target's clutches and could hold the key to closing his case, so John wasn't letting her out of his sight.

Sydney claimed she was more than willing to help, especially if it meant securing her twin sister's safety, but danger threatened every move she and John made together. Would the same hold true once their barely contained attraction was finally released?

Twin Targets by Jessica Andersen is a great contemporary romance novel; it’s full of action, betrayal and sister love.

Sydney Westlake is trying to find a cure for her twin sister Celeste’s disease and has accepted a job at the facility of Tiberius. But what she doesn’t know that Tiberius wants her to develop a virus that would undermine DNA fingerprinting. She knows she has to escape Tiberius and make sure that all her work is save till she finds help.

John “Iceman” Sharpe is an FBI agent and has been hunting Tiberius and his men for quite some time. When he runs into Sydney and hears where she came from and what her offer is, he isn’t quite sure what to think of this situation, but he needs all the help to stop Tiberius from selling bio weapons.

The romance between Sydney and John starts real fast after they meet, but I have to say it fits into the story, but everything about this book is fast and full of action. The trust issues that John has with women are understandable if you know about his past, but he should have known better with Sydney.

This novel was well written and very entertaining. Even though it was a simple romance I found myself turning pages to find out what would be next.

Jessica Andersen - Lord of the Wolfyn

Title : Lord of the Wolfyn
Series : Royal House of Shadows #3
Release date : October 18th, 2011
Publisher : Harlequin
Genre : Paranormal Romance

I received this novel as an ARC, courtesy of Net Galley

The story begins when a Blood sorcerer kills the king and queen of Magical Elden and has plans to kill their four children next in order to get the throne. But never underestimate the love and strength of parents, their mother had enough strength in her to combine her power and send them away to survive and deal with their enemy later.

Reda Weston is a human cop, who’s dealing with her partner’s death. She blames herself for his death, because she froze when they walked into a robbery. Reda always had a way to escape reality and be happy in her dream world, especially fairy tales and her favorite Little Red Riding Hood. She has been looking for that special edition her mother always talked about and now she finally found it. But she never could expect to be drawn into a vortex and wake up in a magic realm.

Dayn is the second son and prince of the Kingdom of Elden. After the brutal attack and murder on his parents, he has been living in the Wolfyn realm. The last thing his father whispered to him in the vortex was to wait for the one woman who would guide him back home. He has been waiting for two decades for her to come his way, now he is ready to go back home and stop the Blood sorcerer and get the vengeance he desperately craves.

Lord of the Wolfyn by Jessica Andersen is the third novel in the Royal House of Shadows Series, which she is co-writing with Gena Showalter, Jill Monroe and Nalini Singh. I already loved Jessica Andersen’s The Final Prophecies Series, so I was curious to see if this novel would capture me too and yeah it did. I love her version of Little Red Riding Hood.

Reda and Dayn both has some issues they need overcome and the only way to deal with that is to work together. But Reda has a hard time with that when she discovers the real identity of Dayn, not him being a royal prince but his curse to change into a Wolfyn, the one creature she fears.

But when the final moment is there for Reda to decide what she really wants, she let her heart speak instead of her mind. Now they have to find a way to the Kingdom of Elden and reclaim Dayn’s home.

I loved this book, it has captured me from the first pages and it held my curiosity till the end. Dayn and Reda are strong characters, okay they have to deal with a lot of baggage from the past, but slowly they manage to overcome that.

You can sense that the four siblings are getting closer and closer to reclaim the Kingdom that is legally theirs. Only one more book left and I cannot wait to see what Nalini Singh has in store for the youngest. I really hope the brothers and sister will find a way to reclaim their heritage and finally be together again. I’m already looking forward to read that.

Jessica Andersen - Nightkeepers

Striking Jaguar is one of the few survivors from a demon attack, where almost every adult died. Strike and his sister Anna were raised by their winikin protectors, so that both of them would turn out to be great Nightkeepers, warrior-priests who summon Mayan Grods and battle demons to protect their kind and earth. For the last couple of months Strike has visions of a young blond woman and he cannot put his fingers on the reason why.

Leah Daniels is a Miami-Dade detective who is investigating her brother’s death. All the evidence tells her that some cult group sacrifice her brother and now they are chasing her. When they finally capture her and wants to sacrificer her, the gorgeous stranger from her dreams appears and save her.

Together Strike and Leah will look for the answers they need to survive and save the world from evil And they are not alone because they are getting help from the other few surviving Nightkeepers and hopefully will prevent the first trigger for the apocalypse.

Nightkeepers by Jessica Andersen is the first novel in the Final Prophecy and I have to say it is a fabulous start. Miss Andersen created a world based on the Mayan doomsday prophecy that will end on December 21, 2012. I can say this novel is one of the few that really blew me off my feet, the moment I start reading.

The main-characters Strike and Leah are fabulous together. Strike is from the royal family and next one in line for the trown, but doesn’t want it. But when times runs out and he have to save his people and earth, he can no longer ignore his duty. He had some visions about a blond attractive woman and when his powers finally kicks in after a long time, he ends up saving her from a sacrifice to the wake the demons. Strike knows she doesn’t belong in his world, but cannot ignore the huge attraction between them.
Leah Daniels lost her parents and recently her brother in some strange cult sacrifice. And now those people want to sacrifice her in the same way. But help is just around the corner, when the gorgeous man from her dreams appears. From that moment her life is no longer her own, she’s now part of some prophecy that will predict the end of the world.

The secondary characters are great and intriguing. The other young nightkeepers have all unique paranormal gifts and powers. And the most important of all, they all believe in Strike and Leah and fight with them to prevent to prophecy to come true.

I really believe Jessica Andersen has written one hell of a novel with promisses for several more. The next novel will be Dawnkeepers and will be about one of the younger nightkeepers. I truly can say I’m looking forward to that one and find out more about the prophecy.

Jessica Andersen will be on my autobuy from now on.
