Cat & Bones are on vacation, just relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. Bones cannot refuse Cat anything when she wants to go to Paris for no reason. Bones knows Cat loves him, but he cannot ignore the feeling she is hiding something from him. He does know she has some weird dreams, but she doesn’t let him into her mind or tell him about it.
Cat has some weird dreams about another master vampire called Gregor and the dreams are getting more real than Cat can imagine. So when Bones and Cat are meeting Mencheres, some will come clear for both of them. It seems that master vampire Gregor took Cat with him when she was only a teenager, tried to gain the trust of the sixteen-year-old Cat, then seduce her and finally marry her. Only because Gregor knew what Cat would be capable of in the future. But Cat cannot remember anything about this period, because Mencheres was able to erase that part in her mind.
Mencheres is able to see into the future and knew it was meant to be for Bones and Cat to met and join their forces to fight of evil. But Gregor won’t stop until he has Cat back, even if this mean he has to steal her away from Bones through Cat’s dreams. Will he succeed and take Cat away from Bones forever?
Destined of an early grave by Jeanine Frost is the fourth novel in her Night Huntress series and one of my favourite in this series. I truly can say that Jeaniene Frost is one of my favourite authors. All her books are great and will lure you into a world full of danger, conspiracies and true love.
Bones and Cat are fabulous together and after their vampire wedding in the third novel, they are taking some free time, to spend some time together. But when it comes clear that another master vampires want Cat and tries to snatch her through her dreams, Bones will do anything to keep Cat save, even if this means locking her into a save room, when he deals with Gregor. Cat knows her heart and soul belongs to Bones, but she wants her memories back to deal with Gregor herself and when she finally confronts Gregor herself behind Bones back, she knows she hurt Bones more than she meant too.
I have to say this book in not good for the heart, because there are some scenes when you just want to scream or cry. You understand the betrayal they’re feeling because someone they love has hurt them, but on the other hand you don’t want them to spilt up. I did feel some frustration reading the book, even a little pain. Cat and Bones are both so stubborn to listen to each other and that’s why they have all the misunderstanding between them, but thank goodness they both have some great friend who will do anything to keep them on the right path. I so love the way Vlad too care of Cat, just the friendly comfort he was giving her, was so touching. Spade is definitely Bones best friend and I love him for it. I cannot wait to see what fade has in store for him.
