Lara Adrian - Veil of midnight

Thousand years ago alien race called the Breed vampires settle themselves on Earth among the human race. Nobody knows they exist but now the Breed must fight for their existence, because something is eliminating every Gen One warriors.

Breed warrior Nikolai was sent to warn Gen One warrior Sergei Yakut of the eliminations, but was lured into a trap by one of Sergei’s beautiful bodyguards, a young woman with a special gift. Sergei grants Niko an audience, but he wishes no involvement from the warrior. Niko accepts the hospitality so he can avoid sunlight and maybe even learn more about this mysterious young woman.

Renata has a gift unlike no other; she can bring trained vampire warriors instantly to their knees without using any weapons. But she is also quite skilled with blades and guns. The only downside of her gift is that it leaves her weak afterwards. But now this warrior walks into her life and Renata refuses to admit her attraction to him, because she trusts no man.

When someone in Sergei’s camp turn traitor and kills him, all the evidence turns to Niko and Renate is the one who assists in his arrest, but only to realize later her mistake. In order to save the little child she loves dearly and her own life, Renata needs a plan to free Niko, the only man able to keep them save.

Veil of midnight by Lara Adrian is the fifth novel in the Midnight Breed series and really a treasure. I don’t think I have to say Miss Lara Adrian has created a dark but powerful world that will keep your attentions all the way through the book.

The main characters Niko and Renata are right for each other from the start, I would say a perfect couple. The leader of the Breed warrior Lucan sent Niko to warn Sergei, a Gen One that someone or something is killing all Gen One warriors. But the search is not easy, because Sergei doesn’t want to be found. During his search Niko finds a beautiful young woman, who definitely knows more than she’s showing. Before Niko figures out that something is wrong, he is down on his knees by this woman.
Renata has a rough life growing up, when some vampire took her of the streets she didn’t knew what to expect. But during their games and hunting Sergei discovers Renata’s secret gift and decide she might be useful to him. When Renata meets warrior Niko she knows he might be the answer to all her prayers. He is definitely the one who can help her escape her prison and maybe even love her.

What I like about this couple is that apart they are strong fighters, but when they are together…. well, all hell can break loose. I’m curious to find out more about the ancient and the breeding plan. What about Hunter, what will become of him? I can only hope to see more of him in the following novels. He is definitely a big key in this whole battle. You can see that I cannot wait for the next novel to come out.

Lara Adrian - Midnight Rising

Thousands years ago an alien race called the Breed vampires settle themselves on earth among the human race. Nobody knows they exist but now the Breed are in the middle of a civil war with the Rogues, whom are vampires who have given over their minds and bodies to the bloodlust. An army full of Rogues wants to dominate the world but find the Breed warriors standing in their way ready to destroy them.

During a vacation journalist Dylan Alexander discovers a hidden tomb in a cave and her curiosity is awake. She believe this will be the story she’s waiting for and began taking pictures. She convinces her boss to extend her vacation so she can write the story to go along with the pictures. But there is another secret hidden in the cave, the tomb is being guarded by one of the most lethal of the Breed warriors.

After being betrayed and injured by the hand of his former breed mate, Rio has only one mission on his mind. He has plans to blow up the entrance of the cave with him inside. But a curious journalist interrupt it all, now he has to stop her and destroy all evidence of the hidden tomb and prevent the world to find out about the Breed.
When Rio discovers a small birthmark on Dylan’s body, that identifies her as a breed mate to his kind, he cannot let her go and take her to safety in the Breed compound.

Dylan has a hard time believing all the things Rio tells her about her birthmark and the Breed world. But when some of the oldest of the Breed begin disappearing and get murdered and Dylan finally figures out what her special gift is about, she realize she cannot leave Rio and the brothers. The only thing to do is to fight sight by sight and face evil together.

Midnight Rising is the fourth novel in the Midnight Breed series and really a treasure. Lara Adrian has really created a dark but powerful world that will keep your attention all the way through the book. Just like the previous books this one was great and I cannot wait for the next one.

The main characters Rio and Dylan are both stubborn and determined, but that make them the perfect couple.
Rio has been betrayed and was injured by the hands of his former breed mate, something he cannot forget or let go. For the past years he is fighting the demons within him, but cannot do that any longer. So when he was ordered to blow up the cave where the hidden tomb was located, the plan was to do that with him in it. That all change when some curious journalist is snapping pictures of the tomb. Rio has no other choice to find her and destroy all the evidence. But fate has another surprise for him, when he finds out who she is and most important what she is.
Dylan Alexander is a journalist and when she discovers a hidden tomb during her vacation, she cannot ignore her excitement to tell the story. So she convince her boss to extend her vacation so she can write and take pictures. But Dylan doesn’t know there is another secret living in the cave, a lethal vampire who will do anything to prevent her publishing the story and pictures. Will she be able to handle the true about who she really is?

All the secondary characters in this novel are great. Lucan and Gabrielle, Dante and Tess, Gideon and Savannah, Tegan and Elise and of course the other warriors Niko, Chase and some new younger warriors.

I said it before; the Midnight Breed series is definitely one of my favourite vampire series I’ve ever read. I don’t have to say this story contains all the stuff you need for a good vampire story, a huge and strong bond between the hero and his heroine, the sworn enemy.
I cannot wait for the next novel to come out and I believe it will be Niko’s story.

Lara Adrian - Midnight Awakening

Thousands years ago an alien race called the Breed vampires settle themselves on earth among the human race. Nobody knows they exist but now the Breed are in the middle of a civil war with the Rogues, whom are vampires who have given over their minds and bodies to the bloodlust. An army full of Rogues wants to dominate the world but find the Breed warriors standing in their way ready to destroy them.

After losing her only son to the Rogue vampires and the crimson drug that causes bloodlust and eventually death, Elise Chase is barely holding on. Now Elise has nothing to lose, so she decides to uses her unique gift of psychic powers and tracks as many Rogues and finally kill them. But the more she uses her power, the weaker she grows and Elise knows that without a blood bond and help of one of the Breed warriors, she will eventually die.

Tegan is a Gen One warrior, the deadliest of them all. He lost his Breed mate five centuries ago to the Rogues and their bloodlust. He has been at war with the Rogues ever since, killing as many as he can. Then one evening he sees Elise Chase battling with a couple of Rogues in an alley and helps her. He remember her as the Darkhaven female he escorted home after her son’s death and is surprised by the way she is handling his death.

Now the two of them are working together to battle the Rogues and their Minions, finding a way to destroy Marek, the leader of the Rogues and an old friend of Tegan. But in the meantime someone is hunter them, will they be strong enough to destroy the enemy and find love all over again?

Midnight Awakening is the third novel in the Midnight Breed series and again it is a fabulous one. Lara Adrian has really created a dark but powerful world that will keep your attention all the way through the book. From the first novel Kiss of Midnight, Tegan was the warrior who caught my eye and made my heart tremble every time he appeared and his story was very satisfying. It really blew me off my feet.

The main characters Tegan and Elise are fabulous for each together. Tegan is the deadliest of all Breed warriors and lost his first breed mate five centuries ago. He never wants to feel love again and only lives to fight as many Rogues and their Minions as he can. But then he meets Elise for the first time and cannot forget about her. Now months later their path crosses again and he cannot let her fight her battle alone.
Elise Chase lost everything she cherish, her husband and now her only son. So she feels she has nothing to loose and is determined to let the Rogues pay for what they done to her son. Hunting the minions during daytime and kill them without remorse, she grows weaker by the day because she has to use her special gift to find them. And then one night she runs into a group of Rogues and fight for her life, but she couldn’t imagine the help of the deadliest Breed warrior Tegan.

The secondary characters in this novel are great. Lucan Thorne, the leader of the Breed and his wife Gabrielle are really great together. Then the other warriors Niko, Rio, Chase, Gideon and his wife Savannah, Dante and his wife Tess, well you can see they all are very close at the compound.

I believe the Midnight Breed series is definitely one of my favourite vampire series I’ve ever read. I don’t have to say this story contains all the stuff you need for a good vampire story, a huge and strong bond between the hero and his heroine, the sworn enemy.
The next novel will be Midnight Rising and I’m really looking forward to reading that one, because it will be Rio’s story. And man, what he went through in the previous novel, you believe he never finds love again.

Lara Adrian is one of my favourite authors and definitely belongs on my bookshelves.

Lara Adrian - Kiss of crimson

Thousands years ago an alien race called the Breed vampires settle themselves on earth among the human race. Nobody knows they exist but now the Breed are in the middle of a civil war with the Rogues, whom are vampires who have given over their minds and bodies to the bloodlust. An army full of Rogues wants to dominate the world but find the Breed warriors standing in their way ready to destroy them.

On a night Dante, one of the Breed warriors, is chasing a Rogue vampire who lures him into an ambush. Dante is badly wounded and dives into the river to escape. But before the night is over he ends up at Tess Culver’s veterinary practice to rest and regroup. What Dante doesn’t know is that veterinarian Tess is still working late and when she hears a noise she comes to investigate and finds Dante badly injured on the ground. Her first thought is to call for an ambulance but badly wounded Dante is able to stop her. Desperately in need of human blood to heal, he drinks from Tess, before seeing the mark that proves Tess is a Breed mate, able to have children with vampires and lives eternally as long as she drinks blood from her mate. Dante is shocked when he sees the mark and the only thing he can do is to erase her memory and tries to forget her but he fails.

Tess Culver is a veterinarian and owns her own clinic. But what nobody knows is that Tess has a gift to heal with her hands, although she doesn’t use this gift. To her it is a curse and wishes she never got it. One night when she is still working late, she hears a noise in the back of the practice and goes to investigate it. Finally located the noise she finds a badly injured gorgeous man and wants to call for an ambulance. Before she knows it, he’s drinking her blood and disappears after erasing the memory of him from her mind.

The Breed warriors are investigating who’s supplies the Crimson drug to humans and Rogue vampires. This drug has a mild effect on humans, but for vampires the addict is such a high, turning them into killing machines. This is how Dante meets Tess again because she is somehow connected to the maker and supplier of the drug. And although neither Dante nor Tess wants it, she is now part of his dangerous world.

Kiss of Crimson is the second novel in the Breed series and again it is a fabulous one. Lara Adrian has really created a dark but powerful world that will keep your attention all the way through the book. The first moment I held the book in my hands it was really calling to me.

The main characters Dante and Tess are both strong personalities and so right for each other.
Dante is one of the Breed warriors who lives for centuries fighting their enemy with all he has got. But he is running from life itself, because in several dreams/visions he saw his own death, just like his father. When he meets his mate he cannot let her into his dangerous life and tries hard to avoid her, but nature is calling him to her. Will she be able to save him? Tess Culver is a veterinarian and has a gift she believes is a curse. She is able to heal human or animal just by using her hands, somewhere in the past she tried to use her gift but did not succeed. The moment she meets the gorgeous warrior named Dante she knows her life won’t be the same anymore.

The secondary characters in this novel are great. Lucan Thorne, the leader of the Breed and his wife Gabrielle are really great together. Then the other warriors Niko, Rio, Gideon and his wife Savannah, well you can see they all are very close at the compound. Chase a newcomer is this book; he is a former Special vampire agent and tries to help Dante to find the supplier of the drug. And last but not least Tegan, the deadliest warrior of them all…. God how this man gets under my skin from the first book and it keeps continuing in the second novel.

I believe the Breed series is definitely one of my favourite vampire series I’ve ever read. I don’t have to say this story contains all the stuff you need for a good vampire story, a huge and strong bond between the hero and his heroine, the badass enemy and some really gorgeous warriors who will fight and protect the innocence. The next in line is Midnight Awakening and just thinking it will be Tegan’s story my heart begins to beat like hell, knowing it won’t be long before I know what will happen to my favourite warrior.

Lara Adrian has become one of my favourite authors and definitely belongs on my bookshelves.

Lara Adrian - Kiss of midnight

Thousands years ago some alien race, the Breed vampires settle themselves on earth among the human race. Nobody knows they exist but now the Breed are in the middle of a civil war with the Rogues, which are vampires who have given over their minds and bodies to the bloodlust.
An army full of Rogues wants to dominate the world but find the Breed warriors standing in their way ready to destroy them.
Lucan Thorne is the leader of the Breed, a Gen One vampire, whose father was one of the original Ancients who landed on earth. Lucan has spent his whole nine hundred years battling the Rogues, but his has a secret. His body is constantly asking him to give over to the bloodlust that turns them into the Rogues.

Gabrielle Maxwell is a professional photographer with no memory of her birth mother. Gabrielle was found as an infant, abandoned in a box, while her teenage mother was walking the street in a hysterical state after a Rogues vampire bite. Gabrielle always believed her mother was insane, but one night she witnesses a violent Rogue group feeding on a human male. Gabrielle doesn’t hesitate for a moment and take pictures with her telephone and runs like hell. The police don’t believe her story, especially when they don’t find a body. But then Lucan appears on her doorstep and takes possession of her phone and the pictures.

Gabrielle and Lucan didn’t count on the strong attraction between them. And when Lucan discover that Gabrielle bears the mark of a Breed mate, a human female who is destined to be mated to a male vampire, he knows he has to stay away from her. Lucan has no intention to claim any Breed mate for his own; because he fears he will end up just like his father, killing his mate in a rage of the bloodlust.
But when the Rogues finds out who Gabrielle is and come after her, Lucan must tell Gabrielle everything about their race and protect her.

Kiss of Midnight is the first novel in the Breed series and I can tell you it is a promising one. The first scene in the novel sets the perfect tone for the rest of it. Lara Adrian has created a great, dark and powerful world that will keep your attention to the book from the first page.

The main characters Lucan and Gabrielle are both strong and they’re for great for each other.
Lucan Thorne, the leader of the Breed, who lives for over nine hundred years fighting their enemy with all the strength and power his has. But now he finds himself on the edge of his bloodlust, not knowing when it will hit and take him over to the other side. The moment he meets Gabrielle he is drawn to her and wants to give in to the emotions and needs. But finding out she is a Breed mate hit him like fire. Can he take the change of binding himself to a mate and hope she can save him from sanity?
Gabrielle Maxwell is a photographer and witnesses a brutal murder of a human by a group of Rogues vampires. She is not believing her eyes, but when the police don’t believe her and when some big dark gorgeous warriors appears on her doorstep she knows her life won’t be the same anymore.
She accepts very quickly that vampires are for real, but she is never afraid of Lucan.

A big fan of vampire stories like myself, I think the Breed series is one of the great ones I ever read.
The story contains all the ingredient for a great vampire story…a strong hero and heroine, some badass enemies and gorgeous warriors who will fight for the better good.
And the end of the book I though…..were can I get one of these Breed warrior….I don’t mind to be a Breed mate to one of them, especially Tegan….he stole my heart with his bad-ass attitude. But the other are great too…Gideon, Niko, Dante and Rio.
I don’t have to tell you…I cannot wait to read the next novel and see what happens to Dante.

Lara Adrian will defiantly stay on my bookshelves and deserve a place between my favourite authors.
