Jeaniene Frost - This side of the grave

Title : This side of the grave
Series : Night Huntress #5
Release date : February 22th, 2011
Publisher : Harper Collins
Genre : Urban Fantasy

Wherever Cat goes, troubles will follow her but luckily for Cat she has gorgeous Bones at her side to help her. This new trouble is a Ghoul who is using the threat of the “Red Reaper” to create a war between the Ghouls and the vampires. It will take everything Cat and Bones has to find a way to stop this war.

So they visit Majestic, the voodoo queen of New Orleans and that is one thing Cat isn’t looking forward to. With Majestic you never know if she will help you or have plans against you, but there is only one way to find out on which side she is now.

This side of the Grave by Jeaniene Frost is the fifth novel in her fabulous Night Huntress Series. I cannot believe Miss Frost did it again, her novels are getting better and better. I think everyone knows by now, that I’m a huge fan of this series, so it was great to see Cat and Bones getting closer to each other. Their relationship is growing into something solid further along in the series.

I believe Cat has finally grow up, we all know she has a thing to run off on her own, because that is what she’s used to do. But now she realize that whatever she goes, Bones will follow her and have her back when she needs it. She cannot protect him all the time, because it is time to be equals in this relationship. And let’s face it; Bones don’t need protection it seems he’s getting more power with each book.

Bones has really grown into his leadership; yes he has the same issues as Cat and wants to keep her save on the sideline to protect her. But I think he finally accept it that, that is one thing she can never do.

Cat’s bond with her old team is still strong and I loved it when they are popping in and help them with any case they have. The situation with Cat’s uncle Don has broke my heart, I never would expect this out come and I really hope Cat can give it a place in the next book.

If you still need to read this book then be prepared for lots of action, great and steamy scenes and one heart breaking situation.

Death’s Excellent Vacation Anthology has a theme…vacation. I saw some of my favourite authors in here, but also met a few new authors.

Jeaniene Frost, Katie MacAllister and Toni L.P. Kelner were my favourite of this anthology. Their stories were fabulous and I really liked them.

Charlaine Harris, L.A. Banks and Lilith Saintcrow’s stories were okay. A long with the stories from the authors above they made the book worth to read. But the rest of the short stories weren’t really my kind of reading. Of course I liked one story better than the other, but I have to say some of them were a little weird.

This anthology was overall good to read, I really think that some of the stories were to short for them to tell the story. Sometimes you were missing the clue, so maybe next time they can cut some of the authors and concentrate of getting more pages for the stories.

Jeaniene Frost - Eternal kiss of darkness

Mencheres is one of the oldest vampire around and he recently discovered that he has nothing to life for anymore. He lost his ability to see the future, so in order to save his vampire family line, he merged them with the family line of Bones, who he sees as a son. So if something happens to him in the near future, he knows that his vampires and companions are taken care off. His life is in danger, because his Uncle Radjedef will do anything to destroy him, so he can have Mencheres’s powers, powers he believes belong to him.

Now Mencheres is facing a pair of ghouls who think they can torture a four thousand year old vampire with their simple silver-blades. He cannot believe his eyes when a human woman steps out of the darkness and tries to save him. Now her life is in danger when the ghouls attack her, Mencheres knows he needs to save her and hopefully erase her memory before he sends her home.

Kira Graceling is a private investigator and cannot ignore a cry for help. So when she walks home one night and hears some evil laughter and some screaming in an a banded warehouse, she calls for back-up, get her gun and see if she can help the victim. She never imagined to come across some ghouls, who are trying to kill her and a very old vampire who save her life, and then kill the ghouls by just looking at them when their heads exploding.

Mencheres takes Kira home with him to see if he can erase her memory of their existence and be on his way. But nothing is as easy as it seems, because it appears Kira is immune to their kind hypnotising and after he sends her home he cannot forget her.

Eternal Kiss of Darkness by Jeaniene Frost is the second novel in her Night Huntress World Series and I have to say it out loud, she did it again. Jeaniene Frost wrote another amazing novel in this vampire world we love so much.

I knew Mencheres was a powerful vampire, but I have to be honest that I didn’t have any high expectations of his book, because he wasn’t one of my favorite characters in the Night Huntress Series. But after reading his book I have to admit I was wrong about him, he was amazing.

Kira is a strong, smart and independent woman, who will go after the things she wants. She even tries to support her sick sister in every way she can. I believe Jeaniene Frost did a great job with Kira; she’s the perfect partner for Mencheres. She’s determined to make him see that everything happens for a reason and not to give up.

Radjedef is the real threat to Mencheres, as his Uncle he truly believe that Mencheres powers belong to him and he will find a way to get those powers, even if that means using his position as a Guardian to their kind. Radjdef is also responsible what will happen with Kira, because he thinks he will have Mencheres on his knees.

I love the fact that we saw some of the characters out of the Night Huntress Series, Cat and Bones made their appearance and my favorite vampire Vlad. I really hope he will get his own book too in the near future.

This novel is another fabulous one by Jeaniene Frost; it’s full of the thing we love the most, strong powerful vampires, smart courageous women and a bunch of fabulous friends who will have your back no matter what. I cannot wait to see what will happen in the next book.

Jeaniene Frost - First drop of crimson

After loosing her husband in a battle against paranormal evil, Denise blocked out every single paranormal being out of her life, even her best friend Cat, who is half human / half vampire. But now her relative’s are dying one by one and Denise think she will be next. So when a shape shifting demon pays her a visit and brands her as his property, she knows she has no choice. She has to find out what happened and how she can stop it before other family members will die.

Denise knows her friend Cat is away for a few weeks, so that leave her no choice then to call Spade, Cat’s vampire friend. Spade has some demons of his own to get rid of; he has managed to avoid any contact with human females for a reason. Now Denise needs his help and has blackmailed him into helping her. He knows he cannot refuse her, otherwise Cat and Bones will have his head. But the more time they spend together, the more he wants to make her his.

First Drop of Crimson by Jeaniene Frost is the first novel in the Night Huntress World and just as good as her Night Huntress Series with Cat and Bones as main characters. The world, the creatures are all the same, but it’s the secondary characters turn now to find happiness and love.

We all know that Denise was happily married and was able to be in the paranormal world her best friend Cat lives in, but after that bloody night where she lost her husband, she cannot be there anymore. But we all know that fate has a mind of his own, so when some demon claims her, she needs help….from the undead. Spade is the only other option to ask for help, when your best friend is away on her honeymoon.

You can read this book on its own, without having read the earlier series the Night Huntress about Cat and Bones. But if you want to understand the whole world building and some of the character, then I would advice to read the others books too, you won’t be disappointed.

I totally loved the fact that some of the characters from the first series are woven into this new novel. I only can hope that Jeaniene Frost will write more books about some of those characters, I would love to see more of Mencheres, Ian and let’s not forget Vlad.

Jeaniene Frost - Destined for an early grave

Cat & Bones are on vacation, just relaxing and enjoying each other’s company. Bones cannot refuse Cat anything when she wants to go to Paris for no reason. Bones knows Cat loves him, but he cannot ignore the feeling she is hiding something from him. He does know she has some weird dreams, but she doesn’t let him into her mind or tell him about it.

Cat has some weird dreams about another master vampire called Gregor and the dreams are getting more real than Cat can imagine. So when Bones and Cat are meeting Mencheres, some will come clear for both of them. It seems that master vampire Gregor took Cat with him when she was only a teenager, tried to gain the trust of the sixteen-year-old Cat, then seduce her and finally marry her. Only because Gregor knew what Cat would be capable of in the future. But Cat cannot remember anything about this period, because Mencheres was able to erase that part in her mind.

Mencheres is able to see into the future and knew it was meant to be for Bones and Cat to met and join their forces to fight of evil. But Gregor won’t stop until he has Cat back, even if this mean he has to steal her away from Bones through Cat’s dreams. Will he succeed and take Cat away from Bones forever?

Destined of an early grave by Jeanine Frost is the fourth novel in her Night Huntress series and one of my favourite in this series. I truly can say that Jeaniene Frost is one of my favourite authors. All her books are great and will lure you into a world full of danger, conspiracies and true love.

Bones and Cat are fabulous together and after their vampire wedding in the third novel, they are taking some free time, to spend some time together. But when it comes clear that another master vampires want Cat and tries to snatch her through her dreams, Bones will do anything to keep Cat save, even if this means locking her into a save room, when he deals with Gregor. Cat knows her heart and soul belongs to Bones, but she wants her memories back to deal with Gregor herself and when she finally confronts Gregor herself behind Bones back, she knows she hurt Bones more than she meant too.

I have to say this book in not good for the heart, because there are some scenes when you just want to scream or cry. You understand the betrayal they’re feeling because someone they love has hurt them, but on the other hand you don’t want them to spilt up. I did feel some frustration reading the book, even a little pain. Cat and Bones are both so stubborn to listen to each other and that’s why they have all the misunderstanding between them, but thank goodness they both have some great friend who will do anything to keep them on the right path. I so love the way Vlad too care of Cat, just the friendly comfort he was giving her, was so touching. Spade is definitely Bones best friend and I love him for it. I cannot wait to see what fade has in store for him.

Jeaniene Frost - At grave's end

Catherine “Cat” Crawfield a long-time vampire hunter, half-vampire, half-human is the head of an elite team of a government agency, who deals with paranormal law enforcements. But her career may be over now every undead creature knows her appearance, red hair and green eyes. When Cat’s cover is blown again, the team needs to find another way to deal with the undead. So they ask a rogue prisoner to assist in their operation, she agrees but takes the first opportunity to escape and kills one of the team members along the way.

But that is not all Cat worries about because a killer vampire from Bones’ past re-appears with only one thing on her mind…. vengeance. Patra is determined to kill Bones once and for all and to do that she unleashes a powerful evil. Cat and Bones has to join forces with not only the elite team, but also Bones’s grand sire and some powerful vampires form the past to fight this evil.

At grave’s end by Jeaniene Frost is the third novel in The Night huntress series and another fabulous one. This is a story that will lure you into a world full of danger, companionship and true love. So I was not surprise to find myself finishing the book hours later.

The main characters Cat and Bones are both strong and determined to succeed in their mission. Their relationship is hot, sensual, strong and full of danger, but that is just the way they like it. Totally committed to each together Bones has to deal with his jealousy, when one of the team members Tate shows his affection more to Cat. Tate even turns into a vampire in the hope Cat will leave Bones for him. But readers who has read this series, knows that will never happen.

I was hooked from the first page and couldn’t put the book down, so it’s only natural that I finish it hours later. I think every woman will fall in love with Bones…. at least I am. .
Jeaniene Frost really knows how to write a fabulous vampire novel. I cannot wait to find out, what she has in store in the next novel.

One foot in the grave by Jeaniene Frost is the second novel in The Night huntress series and just like the previous one it’s fabulous. This is a story that will lure you into a world full of danger, companionship and true love. So I was not surprise to find myself finishing the book hours later.

The main characters Cat and Bones are both strong and determined to succeed in their mission. Cat left Bones behind four years ago, believing it was the only thing she could do to save his life. Now she is the head of a government agency, which deals with paranormal law enforcements. But now she is a target herself and it seems there is a spy in her office, so the only man she trust is her one-time lover and master vampire Bones. But will he be angry for what she did to him. The moment Cat and Bones meet each other at the wedding of Cat’s friend, the huge attraction between them is back. And Bones is determined to convince Cat he is the right man/vampire for her and to protect her from whoever the assassin is.

Well after reading the first novel Halfway to the grave, I was hooked and couldn’t wait to read this novel. And of course it was a terrific one, I think every woman will fall in love with Bones…. at least I am…. I can’t blame Cat for claiming him as her own.

Jeaniene Frost - Halfway to the grave

Catherine “Cat” Crawfield is a vampire slayer and made it her priority to take as many as she can get. She has grown up with a hatred of vampires, because her mother was rapped by one and finds herself pregnant with Cat. So basically Cat is half-vampire and that is just enough to fool the vampires and get close to them. During the night Cat patrols, luring vampires in her net and kill them. But then one night she tries to kill Bones, a master vampire and fails.

Master vampire Bones has been watching Cat for a while and knows what she’s doing with the lesser vampires. But he believes she works for the one he hunts and lures her into a trap. Soon enough he discovers the uppers its and even believe she can be useful for his mission. The two of them agree to work together because their goals are the same and Cat begins her training with Bones,

But things are not always what it seems and soon enough Cat and Bones discover a human group with evil reaches to the government. Now Cat is forced to make a difficult choice that will put her life in danger to protect the man she loves.

Halfway to the grave by Jeaniene Frost is a fabulous debut novel and the first one in The Night huntress series. I find myself reading this book and end it a few hours later; it is a story that will lure you into a world full of danger, conspiracies and love.

The main characters Cat and Bones are both strong and determined to succeed in their mission. Cat grew up with the idea all vampires were evil, just like her father. But not all things are what they seem, especially when she meets Bones, a master vampire. After an attack she fails to kill him, but end up being capture by him. Now she is in training and learning to kill the big vampires and slowly fall in love with the very creature her mother warn her about. Bones is a master vampire and is hunting rogues vampires, when he meets Cat. He thinks she is working for the same men he hunts and captures her, but soon enough he discovers she is half-vampire and wants to kill as many as she can get. It is up to him to prove to her, that not all vampires are bad.

Well this is definitely a story that leaves us readers think about what will be in store for us next. It was great to see Cat struggles with her feelings for Bones, when she learns to hate all vampires, but she cannot ignore the feelings growing inside. And when she finally has to make a big decision, to save his life, your heart beat as hard as hers.
Jeaniene Frost really knows how to describe the feelings Cat struggles with. I cannot wait to find out, what she has in store in the next novel.
