Patricia Briggs - Iron kissed

Mechanic Mercy Thompson’s friend and mentor Zee calls on her for help. It seems someone or something is killing fae on their reservation and Zee hopes Mercy is able to sense anything in her coyote form to help identify the killer. Zee takes Mercy to the reservation so she can visit the homes of several fae that have been killed. During the investigation Mercy finds herself seeing things that she shouldn’t have.

Mercy is able to sense the identity of the killer. But when Zee and his fae friend Mike go confront the killer, he is already dead. It was a trap, the police had been called and Zee is taking the fall for the murder. Everyone around Mercy is telling her to stop investigating, but Zee means everything to her, so she is determined to find the real killer and bring him to justice. The closer Mercy’s getting, the more she learns about things that should have remain hidden.

With some help of some magical objects Mercy is able to find the real killer and get Zee out of prison.

Iron Kissed by Patricia Briggs is the third novel in the Mercedes Thompson series and the novels are getting better and better. In each novel we find more about this world Mercy lives in, about the werewolves, the vampires and the fae all living among humans, the several secrets and her triangle relationship with Adam and Samuel.

What I really like about this series is the way it lures you right into it. The moment you start reading, you forget everything around you and enjoy the ride, at least that’s what I did. I really like the character Mercy, she strong and determined to do things her way and doesn’t want to interfere with the wolves/vampires/fae things, but that doesn’t mean they will leave her alone. Her relationship with Samuel, her ex-boyfriend and one of the alpha werewolves in town is getting stronger. Mercy discovers that she still loves him, but not in the way he wants to. Adam, the other alpha werewolf is determined to make her finally his and the huge attraction between them is in his favor. Mercy knows that she has to make the decision really soon.

The only thing for me to say is that I’m hooked…this series is definitely one of my favorites. And if Miss Patricia Briggs keeps writing like this in her future books, then she will keep me as one of her huge fans. She is my auto-buy list from this day forward...

Patricia Briggs - Blood bound

Recently the werewolves made themselves known to the human race, just like the fae outed by the Grey Lords. Mechanic Mercy Thompson is unique; she is a walker who turns into a coyote if she wants to. She is fast, has a strong sense of smell and among her friends are some werewolves, fae and even some vampires.

So when Stefan, a vampire friend asks Mercy for help she cannot refuse him. Stefan needs Mercy in her coyote form to witness what happens when he visits a demon rogue vampire. This powerful rogue vampire could hypnotize Stefan and even kill him, so Mercy is there to witness and maybe prevent that. After the awful meeting Stefan believes this rogue vampire is the very same, who is been killing humans and calling newly made vampires.

The vampire Queen has a hard time to believe one of her own is killing, but when she puts Stefan and later on Mercy on the vampire magic chair, the truth is hard to ignore. She orders Stefan to kill this rogue vampire, no matter what but with discreet. But when one of the werewolves gets badly hurt, Stefan knows he needs the help of the werewolf pack.

But the vampire queen believes Mercy, the walker is the only one who can find and kill the demon vampire. Mercy refuses, but when her werewolves’ friends Adam & Samuel are captured and hurt, she is out for war.

Blood Bound by Patricia Briggs is the second novel in the Mercedes Thompson series. After reading the first novel, Miss Patricia Briggs got my attention. This series has all the stuff I want in a book, vampires, werewolves, fae and a very strong female character.

Mercedes Thompson is taking care of herself for years now, just minding her own business and running her garage. But it seems every time trouble is in town, it knows his way to find her. Now a demon vampire is in town killing innocent humans and luring newly turned vampires. And if she believes the vampire queen, she’s the only one who can stop him. Well if you kidnapped two of her werewolves’ friend, you can get exactly that.

Patricia Briggs knows how to write a novel, the moment you start reading it lures you right into the story and you don’t want to stop it unless you finished it. Well, that is exactly what I did…start reading and forgot all about the time and finished the book several hours later. It was interesting to see the relationship between Mercy, Adam and Samuel grow and the confusion Mercy has when she thinks about her feelings for these two men. She knows she have to decide sooner or later, because two powerful alphas’s in one area isn’t good.
I have to read the next novel to find out is she already pick her man…oh I’m so hoping she pick my favorite.

Patricia Briggs - Moon Called

Mercedes “Mercy” Thompson is a mechanic and owns her own garage. She was raised by one of the most powerful werewolves pack in North America, even though Mercy isn’t a werewolf. She is a walker and is able to shift into a coyote when necessity. So when a freshly made werewolf Mac ends up on her doorstep, she knows she should tell the Cities Alpha and her neighbor Adam, but she decide to wait a little longer.

But when this turns bad Mercy has no choice then to call Adam and explain everything. But it’s too late, the newly werewolf Mac is murdered, Adam injured and Adam’s human daughter Jesse is kidnapped because of it. Mercy doesn’t know who to trust, so she borrows a van and takes the injured Adam back to the place she grew up.

Back home Mercy knows she has to face Samuel, whom she adored as a child and loved when she was a young woman. The very same man she betrayed and left behind. But Adam needs help and Samuel is just the right guy to help him. Because of his amazing healing ability as an alpha Adam is back on his feet in know time. Now he and Mercy along with Samuel are getting back to rescue his daughter Jesse and trying to figure out the mysterious person who is responsible for all of this.

Moon called by Patricia Briggs is the first novel in the Mercedes Thompson series. It’s the first novel I’ve read by Miss Briggs and I have to say she didn’t disappoint me at all. I couldn’t believe myself for not reading her novels sooner. I had the first two novels on my shelves for months and recently discovered them again, well what a lovely surprise.

Mercedes Thompson is a strong person who can take care of herself. She knows that as a coyote she isn’t strong, but faster than the werewolves. She doesn’t belong to any of the packs and she likes it that way. She knows that the alpha wolf and her neighbor Adam wants for her to join his pack and take her place as his alpha mate, but Mercy refuses.
Now her neighborly relationship with Adam takes a whole different turn, when her ex-boyfriend Samuel comes to town. Two alpha males in one town that cannot be good.

I’m a huge fan of vampires, werewolves, shape shifters and witches stories, so this series is becoming one of my favorite at this moment. It contains everything I need in a book; danger, some good doses of jealousy and companionship to get the job done. It will be interesting to see how the relationship between Mercy, Adam & Samuel will develop in the future books. I cannot wait to find out. Of course I have my favorite man and hopefully she will choose him someday, when Mercy is ready. But for now I’m happy with the ending and counting the days till I can read the next novel.

Samantha James - The seduction of an unknown lady

Lady Fionna Hawkes owns a bookstore, but secretly she is a writer under the pen name E.J. Sparrow. Fionna likes to wander the dark streets to find some inspiration for her stories in the newspaper and for her own books. Nobody knows she is the famous author and she wants to keep it that way. Her books and stories are very popular, which give her to opportunity to provide her ill mother the best medical care she needs. Fionna’s mother suffers from a debilitating mental illness, so Fionna had to put her in a private sanatorium. But her life is about to turn around when she meets a handsome stranger, when she is out for her nightly walk

Aidan McBride is walking home late from his brother’s home, when a young woman catches his eyes. Because it’s already after midnight Aidan thinks the woman is in needs of his help, but the woman thinks otherwise and slap him with her parasol. Aidan doesn’t know if he should be angry or just laugh. He could use a laugh right now, because he just returns from Indian after being away for years. His guilt over a battle where only a few soldiers survive is giving him nightmares. Maybe this young woman is just what he needs right now.

Aidan begins his seduction and he doesn’t take no for an answer. He wants to know everything about this lovely lady.

The seduction of an unknown lady by Samantha James is the second novel in the McBride Trilogy. Just like the previous novel it’s easy to read and is full of emotions, humour and in the end true love.

The main characters Aidan and Fionna are two people with their own past and secrets. Aidan McBride left his family years ago to serve in the war in India. In one of this battle, the enemy lured Aidan and his army into a trap with only a few survivors. The guilt Aidan felt and sometimes still feels is pushing to travel around, but now he’s back home in England. So when Aidan meets the lovely Fionna Hawkes on the streets late at night, he know she will make his life a little more interesting.

Fionna Hawkes is the proud owner of a bookstore and secretly writes stories and books under the pen name E.J. Sparrow. With the extra money she can provide her ill mother the best care she needs in the private sanatorium, as long as know one knows the true identity of E.J. Sparrow. But someone is following her late at night and leaves message that he knows who she is and that they will be together someday. So her first meeting with Aidan McBride during her daily midnight walks isn’t the one she had in mind.
I really like Samantha James’s style; it’s relaxing, funny and full of excitement and eventually true love. The novel is easy to read and gives you a real relaxing mood and it was just what I needed. What I really like about this novel is that each chapter begins with a small excerpt of Fionna’s novel, the same novel Aidan’s brother Alex is dying to read.

I’m looking forward to read the last novel in this trilogy, because I want to know if the eldest brother Alex McBride is going to find the love of his life.
